Experience

Emma trained with one of the largest law firms in Ireland qualifying as a solicitor in 1998. Since then she has worked in Dublin and Cork joining this firm in June 2017.  Emma has extensive experience in Litigating some of the largest cases  in this country including trials in the High Court, Central Criminal Court and Supreme Court. Emma has expertise  across the litigation spectrum and has acted for large multi-nationals, international financial institutions, for and on behalf of the State as well as private clients in all courts.  Emma now mainly represents private clients and has particular expertise in  Medical Negligence and Personal Injury claims.

Emma recently settled a medical negligence claim for a young girl suffering from cerebral palsy as a result of a birth injury. The settlement achieved through mediation was one of the largest awards in the history of the State.

Emma is currently the President of the Southern Law Association (SLA) having been appointed at the AGM in November 2022. Emma was elected to the Council of the SLA in 2013 and serves on the Litigation Committee.  Emma is also a Council member of the Law Society of Ireland and serves on the Litigation Committee.

Emma was appointed to the Complaints and Clients Relations Committee (CCRC) of the Law Society of Ireland in 2016.  After serving with the CCRC for three years Emma was appointed to the Legal Services Regulatory Authority where she served up to 2021. Emma was invited by  Minister James Browne, Minister of State at the Department of Justice to Chair the Firearms Expert  Committee established in July 2022.

Emma has lectured and tutored for the Law Society of Ireland in the areas of Civil, Criminal and Business law.
