To be eligible for redundancy payment an employee must meet the following criteria:
- Be aged over 16.
- Be in employment which is insurable under the Social Welfare Acts. Full time employees under age 66 must be paying Class A PRSI (this does not apply to part time workers).
- You must have worked continuously for your employer for at least 104 weeks (aged over 16).
- You must be made redundant.
An Employer must give notice of the redundancy. This period is dependent on how long the employee worked for them –
13 weeks to 2 year | 1 week |
2 to 5 years | 2 weeks |
5 to 10 years | 4 weeks |
10 to 15 years | 6 weeks |
Over 15 years | 8 weeks |
