A new housing development in Carrigaline was commenced in 2017.  Janeville, Cork Road, Carrigaline is the largest residential scheme in the State under construction, outside of Dublin.  The first sod was turned in April 2017 by Tánaiste Simon Coveney TD, former Housing Minister, and local resident.  The builder is Astra Construction, a local company headed by Stephen McCarthy.  Astra has completed many notable developments in Carrigaline, and Janeville is their largest development to date.

The Janeville project consists of an 800 unit, €300 million development, on 100 acres of land.  Remarkably, there were no objections to the initial planning application and permission for 300 houses has been granted, with 100 units in the first phase on the market.
